WYC Policies
Conduct and Discipline
With your acceptance into the Washington Youth Choir, the organization expects you to carry yourself with dignity, professionalism, and exemplary citizenship at all times. Students are to show respect to fellow members, staff, chaperons, and volunteers. Any misconduct will be dealt with in a manner the Music Director considers appropriate including dismissal from the Choir. Below is a detailed explanation of our policies and expectations.
Rehearsal Preparedness
Students are to bring their music folder with a sharpened pencil to every rehearsal.
Choir rehearsals are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Students are to be seated in their section no later than 4:30 p.m.
Rehearsal Tardiness
Any Choir member not present by 4:30 p.m. will be considered late and subject to the same consequences for rehearsal absences to excuse the tardy. If you are delayed due to transportation issues or required school activities, please contact the administrative office before 4 p.m. to mark you as excused late. Please DO NOT DISRUPT REHEARSAL, if you are late! Take your seat and quickly.
Rehearsal Absences
The Choir Office must be notified of rehearsal absences prior to the rehearsal for which you will be absent.
Unexcused absences may affect your performance opportunities, community service hours, and scholarship award.
Rehearsal and Performance Decorum
In accordance with the rules of Calvary Baptist Church water is the ONLY beverage allowed in rehearsal spaces.
Chewing gum, food or candy is NOT permitted during rehearsals and performances.
Please do not bring friends to rehearsals unless they are interested in joining the Choir.
